TABINA,
Zamboanga del Sur (April. 25, 2019) – One
person was killed in Shooting incident transpired at Barangay Lumbia, Tabina, Zamboanga
del Sur at about 9:30 PM of April 23, 2019.
The victim was identified as Jacer
Jacalan y Baltazar, 49 years old, married, farmer, Chief Tanod of aforesaid
Barangay and resident of District Cabuso, Lumbia, Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur.
Initial investigation disclosed that
the Barangay Tanod’s of aforesaid barangay were performing their night duty at
Lumbia Multi-Purpose Hall adjacent to its Barangay Hall when two unidentified
pick-up trucks arrived, suddenly unidentified masked men with firearms
dismounted from the aforesaid vehicles and went towards the location of Barangay
Tanod’s. However, some Barangay Tanods manage to flee from the area and sought
refuge from the neighboring houses.
The victim identified as Jacer Jacalan
y Baltazar and Rolando Melca y Mercado, 50 years old, farmer, a tanod member
and resident of District Canaway, Lumbia, Tabina were left at the Multi-Purpose
Hall.
At that juncture, the said masked men
demanded them to drop at the ground and even kicked them.
When the masked men were about to leave
the area,
Jacer Jacalan y Baltazar and
Rolando Melca y Mercado run towards
their barangay hall, but gun shots were fired by the masked men, unfortunately,
Jacer Jacalan y Baltazar was hit.
He sustained one (1) gunshot-wound at
the right butt that resulted to his untimely death.
The unidentified suspects immediately
fled towards the direction of Barangay Mabuhay, Tabina on board the same
vehicles.
Motive of the incident are yet to be
determined. Victim dead body was already at the care of his immediate family.
Recovered from the crime scene were
four (4) empty shells of caliber 5.56mm.
